Dopo la vittoria al Jamaica Indipendent Festival si ritrova in studio a registrare per il mitico Coxsone Dodd (Studio One) con il quale incide la prima mega-hit &#8220;You don&#8217;t love me&#8221; con i Soul Vendors come backing band. Tra gli altri lavori ricordiamo &#8220;Dont&#8217; sleep in the subway&#8221;, &#8220;To Sir with Love&#8221;, &#8220;Long day, short night&#8221;e &#8220;Blue yes blue&#8221; con Prince Buster.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Collabora anche con Johnny Cash per il backing vocal di 2 canzoni\u00a0che l&#8217;artista si trova a registrare in Jamaica. Nel 1987 torna in studio per Steely e Clevie e registra nuovamente il suo singolo di debutto con una rinnovata parte strumentale e collabora con artisti del calibro di Dennis Brown, Ken Boothe e Beenie Man. Con la nuova versione del singolo entra in classifica UK e ci rimane per 12 settimane.
